IT Support Traineeship Position

Our client is a well-known organisation based in the inner west, and is currently seeking an entry level IT trainee to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the handling of general help desk queries and providing IT support and specialised assistance where needed. The ideal candidate should have excellent customer service and communication skills and display a willingness to learn.

 Duties include:

• Providing first level technical support to end users on a variety of issues
• Responding to enquiries in an efficient and timely manner
• Prioritising issues in order to effectively maintain the use of the IT system and infrastructure
• Ensuring the timely resolution of IT issues through effective tracking and monitoring of problems reported by end users
• Installing, configuring and maintaining PCs, networking equipment and network operating systems
• Implementing and coordinating housekeeping procedures, including back-ups, setting up user accounts and monitoring file access
• Planning and implementing maintenance and upgrades for system software and hardware
• Maintaining peripheral devices connected to the PC such as printers and scanners.

Selection criteria:

• Strong customer service skills and attention to detail, as well as troubleshooting and problem solving ability
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts within PC and LAN environments
• Basic understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration and networking
• Enthusiasm with a willingness to learn and a desire for self-improvement.

Eligibility criteria:

• NOT completed any qualification above a Certificate II
• Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or a New Zealand Citizen that has resided in Australia for more than 6 months.
