WorkVentures has a number of volunteers who are members of the communities in which we work. Our volunteers provide invaluable support and help to keep our Connect Centres and programs running. We thank all of our volunteers for their ongoing support and commitment.
We're always looking for new volunteers to join our team, whether it's a couple of hours each month or a more regular commitment. WorkVentures' volunteer program aims to help people to develop the skills they already have and to give them an opportunity to use these skills to help others in their local community. We aim to help our volunteers to gain new, transferrable skills that they can take to other organisations or employment.
We comply with the National standards for volunteers through the implementation of a thorough induction program that commences with the recruitment process. Volunteers are inducted to company policies and procedures and workplace expectations with clarification of learning outcomes within the role. Each volunteer has a duty statement and receives ongoing reviews and development through 1:1 coaching.
The engagement of volunteers is usually for a 12 month term to ensure the development opportunities are measured and skill development is supported. This supports the growth of the volunteers development whilst they generously donate their time and efforts for the benefit of the company.
Our Volunteer Handbook sets out the process for applying to become a volunteer, and the roles and responsibilities that are available to volunteers. These include customer service roles (such as reception duties), one on one tutoring, and specific program-related activities. To support our goal of continuing to develop our volunteers' skills, volunteers are required to attend at least one accredited training course and two workshops (either internal or external).
