Upcoming courses at Airds

Our Connect Centre at Airds is taking registrations of interest for three upcoming courses:

  • Introduction to Computers
  • Get up and DRIVE! - driving skills for youth
  • Pathways to Horticulture

Our Introduction to Computers will run for eight weeks and will cover basic skills including starting up a computer, setting up email, and how to use programs such as Microsoft Word. This course will be delivered by TAFE and is fee-exempt, so it's free to local residents.

Starting in November, we will be running our new Get Up and DRIVE program, for local youth who are trying to gain their driver's licence. You can borrow RTA handbooks, sit for practice knowledge tests using our computers, or come to a practice test workshop. Participation is free.

In February 2012 we'll be starting a Pathways to Horticulture course, covering gardening, concreting, timber work, paving, and garden maintenance. This course will run for 12 weeks making use of our Greengate Community Garden at the Airds Centre, and will be delivered by TAFE.

We're also looking for volunteers for our Greengate Community Garden, or just come along to one of our free garden workshops - the next one is on 27 October.

To register your interest in any of these programs, just contact our Airds Connect Centre by dropping into the Centre, calling on 4628 8622 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
