Congratulations to former WorkVentures’ trainee Tristyn Davies for winning a bronze medal in the Business Services category at the WorldSkills Australia National Competition in Brisbane last week.

The National Competition ran over three days from Friday 7 May to Sunday 9 May, and featured more than 500 competitors from 30 regions across Australia. With awards in 50 trade and skill categories, competition for the coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze medals was extremely fierce. The overall winner will attend the 41st International WorldSkills Competition in London 2011, competing against 48 other countries.

Tristyn wearing her medalAfter completing Year 12 in 2008, Tristyn was employed by WorkVentures as a trainee and as part of her traineeship, she was placed with Global-Mark Pty Ltd, a third party certification body located at North Ryde in Sydney. Supporting her work experience with coursework for a nationally recognized qualification, Tristyn successfully completed her Certificate III in Business Administration. After Tristyn’s traineeship with WorkVentures ended, she was immediately offered permanent employment with Global-Mark as a Customer Service Officer.

As a mark of recognition of the quality of her work and study, alongside her commitment to the traineeship program, Tristyn was referred to compete in the World Skills Australia competition. In October 2009, Tristyn won Gold for the North Sydney region in the Business Services category, making her eligible to compete in the National Competition. Up against extremely stiff competition from across Australia Tristyn once again delivered to the high level that we have come to expect from her and was awarded a bronze medal.
