About the iGetIT! course

A participant of the course

The iGetIT! training provides successful participants with accredited outcomes that are recognised nation-wide. The training is delivered  in a relaxed atmosphere by highly experienced accredited trainers who support participants to work towards attaining two or three units of a Certificate II in Information Technology.

The statements of recognition include:

  • ICAU1128B Operate a personal computer
  • ICAU2005B Operate computer hardware
  • ICAU1129B Operate a word processing application

The iGetIT! course is offered in two stages.

Stage 1:

Stage 1 is delivered over a block of five days. There is a half day information session for prospective trainees before the course begins, which is a practical hands-on session covering basic soldering and assembly techniques.  This encourages participants to enrol in the course and commit to attending and completing the program.

Stage 1 covers:

  • The working parts of a personal computer
  • Putting the parts together to assemble a functioning personal computer
  • Installing an operating system and programs
  • Basic fault finding
  • Using and taking care of a personal computer.

Stage 2:

Stage 2 is ideally timed a few weeks after Stage 1 is completed. This allows time to work with the computer at home and demonstrate commitment to maintaining it in working order. To be eligible for Stage 2, participants will need to turn up with their computers in working order and have the support of the partnering organisation for enrolment.

Stage 2 covers:

  • More advanced fault finding
  • More advanced computer maintenance
  • Installing and using software applications
  • Creating and saving files.
