iGetIT! courses teach aboriginal and disadvantaged youth about basic computer assembly and use. Participants work towards attaining two or three units of a Certificate II in Information Technology. For many, iGetIT! is their first accredited training course. It engages youth in learning new skills, supports other activities offered by our partners, and builds the confidence and motivation to apply those skills to gain employment or enrol in further training.
All learning is hands-on and based around a personal project of re-building a computer. Everyone who completes the course will keep the computer they have personally built from components supplied by WorkVentures.
This course is provided by WorkVentures in partnership with organisations that are already working with aboriginal and disadvantaged young people.
Simon and his sister Martha completed the iGetIT! course - read Simon's story.
Additional courses will be confirmed through 2013.
