Our decommissioning process

Our standard decommissioning process is highly professional and assures your data security. The collection and decommissioning service is provided free of charge provided that the donated equipment meets our minimum specification  of Pentium 4 processor.

The key elements of the decommissioning process are as follows:

  • A member of our production team will personally collect donated equipment from your premises, with confirmation of units collected provided prior to our departure from site. A report confirming items collected will be provided within five working days of collection (10 days if no bar coding).
  • All donated equipment will be returned directly to secured warehouse.
  • Hard discs to be reused are subject to a low level format using Microscope, a specialist diagnostic tool. Low level formatting entails wiping the drive and then writing to it three times using a random pattern. The hard disc is then subject to a high level format using Windows.
  • Each individual PC is used to drive the erasure process and all identification and stickers are removed from the PC in our cleaning process.
  • Hard discs that are not reused will be rendered unusable by physically piercing the chamber. The discs will then be recycled through our recycling partner (currently Smorgon Steel).
  • WorkVentures can certify that each disc has been erased (or physically destroyed). This certification would be a quality statement confirming that all hard discs had been subject to the above processes.

WorkVentures is happy to arrange an inspection of our production facility, or alternately we can supply contacts from companies such as The Westpac Group (whom we service nationally) who can provide references to independently confirm the quality of our decommissioning process.
