Case study: MTC Work Solutions

MTC Work Solutions is a non-profit organisation committed to alleviating poverty and illiteracy by providing skills training, career planning and employment assistance.

MTC purchased 250 Pentium 4 desktops from WorkVentures for:

  • its training labs to deliver language and literacy programmes;
  • their job search rooms; and
  • to establish new sites after winning government contracts.

MTC's IT and facilities manager Tonia Marsh said that buying refurbished personal computers (PCs) enabled the organisation to increase its IT infrastructure at a fraction of the cost of buying new PCs.

“For us it was all about funding growth in a cost effective way. We could buy more PCs to better support our clients without compromising on quality and reliability; and at the same time leave more budget available to fund other areas of our growth," she said.

“The PCs are definitely very stable and meet all functionality requirements. It was also very helpful to be able to budget effectively knowing that the machines were available at a known price, and could be built and delivered very quickly."
