Case study: Laurie is now up to date and popular with the kids

Before purchasing his computer through WorkVentures’ computer re-use program, Laurie found life “annoying” and felt “behind the rest of the world - almost primitive.”  Now, his life is a lot happier – just speak with his daughters.

“They thought I was a bad father because I couldn’t afford a computer,” said Laurie.  However, since learning about Connect IT through his local resource centre and community college, Laurie has bought his own personal computer (PC). Laurie is now a lot more popular.

“Now they love me more – they’re tickled pink,” he said, following the prompt delivery of the unit to their home in Mollymook on the NSW south coast.

Along with the extra love from his daughters, Laurie is enjoying the many aspects of owning a PC.  “It’s very helpful for typing up resumes, learning new skills and getting in touch with knowledge,” he said.

“The modem included with the package has also been helpful to access the internet, allowing Laurie and his daughters to enjoy their leisure time by emailing friends and playing games with people throughout the world.  “I also use the computer to look for surf, weather and fishing reports as they are very important to me,” Laurie said.

Laurie recommends the purchase to those considering ordering a PC through the Connect IT program.

“Owning a computer and knowing how to use it is as important as owning a pencil and paper and knowing how to write was 100 years ago.”
