About our members

In the beginning

WorkVentures started life in 1979 as Peninsula Community Services, based in the Malabar/La Perouse area in Sydney's southeast. For many years now our focus has been on employment, training, technical services and narrowing the digital divide, but in the early days we ran a range of programs including holiday programs, a recycling venture, and other community-based projects.

Our first steps in community engagement started in the late 1970s at St Mark's Anglican Church in Malabar in Sydney, when some members of the congregation decided to take an active part in the local community. Since that time, WorkVentures has grown and met new challenges along the way, but we continue to value the guidance and support of our Members, who provide encouragement to the organisation and our stakeholders.

What our Members do

Since our incorporation in 1984 as a company limited by guarantee, the role of Members has been vital in providing knowledge, passion, mentoring and community networking for the organisation. Our Members work to broaden the base of our support, providing specific skills and volunteering their time and energy to our continued success. We are grateful for their ongoing commitment and assistance.
